About Us

Students involved in classroom and after-school activities with the Smithville High School Theatre Department will learn confidence, self-discipline, problem-solving, responsibility, and teamwork that will prepare them for success in any subject at the post-secondary level. The SHS Theatre Department provides students with opportunities to participate in mainstage and black box productions, and the chance to travel to the UIL’s annual One Act Play competition.  Opportunities for field trips will be offered throughout the year to allow students a more well-rounded view of the world of theatre.  Participating in any of the Theatre Department’s many options is a great way for students to maintain a healthy body, a positive attitude, and a creative imagination.

Theatre classes, including Theatre I, II, III, and IV, as well as Technical Theatre I, II, III, and IV, and Theatre Productions, are taught at Smithville High School, located at 285 Hwy 95, Smithville, Texas. We are fortunate enough to be able to present black box shows in our classroom theater. (Room S9)

Mainstage performances are held in the Smithville Elementary School Cafetorium, located at 801 Wilkes, Smithville, Texas.
