Coming Soon: ‘War Brides’
When the frontlines of World War II near her Eastern European town, teenager Amelia fears that her dreams of going to college and seeing the world are slipping out of reach. With three brothers having shipped off to fight, and another set to leave any day, Amelia has been left to care for her distraught mother and neurotic sister-in-law, who’s set on undermining the town’s military regime. After receiving a surprising job offer, Amelia readies herself to leave town, but the appearance of an overconfident suitor complicates things, and Amelia is faced with a choice: do what is expected of her or follow her dreams. War Brides explores society’s expectations of women and the many ways in which war impacts a community. Performances for War Brides will be held at the SJHS Cafetorium on May 17th & 18th at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults.
